Oh, those first few rows of the BSJ are a total faith-in-knitting process! I've made two so far, and only now am I starting to get the hang of things. If it makes it any better (or worse!) - remember this: some folks do a provisional cast-on before they start knitting their BSJs, just in case they want their sleeves to end up longer than the pattern calls for............

I can see all those colors leaving a bulky seam. The pants are totally cute and worth it, though.

Carrying all those colors along may have been a pain, but gosh, the result sure is stunning. To answer your question, yes those pants are cute. DARN cute!

I read those posts on Grumperina's blog and they didn't make sense to me at all! But if they do help avoid this seam then it's a good thing, because that can't be very comfy on a baby, no? The pants are cute, though.

That's the bottom part of the baby surprise - the decrease line is going from the hips to the centre of the chest, as it were.

Hooray for baby pants! They look so, so, so cute! It's comforting to know that the pants *were* annoying to knit, and it wasn't just my general laziness as a knitter that was stalling me out. It's got to be a real issue if Ruthlessknitting encounters the same irritations, drags, and thick seaming that mere mortals do! Now I almost feel heroic! Thank you for being such a generous knitting friend. Can't wait to see the surprise jacket, too...
