I love the cardigan and the two-tones. Actually it goes really well with the plain long-sleeved t-shirt and the jeans, perfect for when you need some body warmth but not a full sweater.

Hi! Random Craftster member here. Super cute cardi. I have the problem with gaps all the time (being a busty girl). Here's what I'd do. Reinforce the button bands with grosgain ribbon (you'll see most RTW cardigans have something like this), and if it's still gapping after that, I'd also put a couple of those little hook and eyes in between the buttons where it's gappy. Yours doesn't look like it's gapping much, and I think just reinforcing the button bands should work.

You could turn it into a pullover, as someone mentioned above, too.

Hi Ruth,

I like the idea of knitting as a time capsule of love and focused thought from your previous post about Grandma. Beautifully written and lovely writing.

This cardigan is so much fun to see. Colors are yummy, overdyed no less! Buttons, perfect. I especially like the way the knitting changes around the bottom with those triangular pieces -- quietly provoking such interest!

Regarding the button bands, if you make them wider or sew ribbon on the back to stiffen them whether they are narrow or wide, it looks like they will still gap because the yarn is soft and buttery. My heretical thought is to sew top, sides, and bottom of the overlapping bands in place while buttoned and turn it into a pullover! Oh dear, that thought surprises and dismays even me. But I would block it that way and stitch it down in order to have this gorgeous sweater look a certain way consistently, so I could forget about it and enjoy it never gapping.

What a cute sweater! I really like your two color alteration. The color combination is so pretty together. Having yet to ever knit a button band, I have no suggestions except that for all my store bought cardigans, the button bands are always reinforced with ribbon...it does seem to stiffen things a bit.
